2026 Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day
The Worldwide Pinhole Photography day is celebrated annually on the last saturday of April. Pinhole photography uses a light-tight box (camera) with a pin sized aperture. There is no shutter and no lens. Exposures are long, lasting from over 1 second to minutes and as much as hours. The result is a etheral or dream-like appearance with an infinite depth of focus.
As in the past this year I participated with three cameras. My large format choice is the Lensless 4X5 Pinhole Camera. I shot Kodak Tri-X 320, Kodak Portra 160 and Film Photography Project Infrared. The medium format camera that I used is the Holga Winde Pinhole Camera (a panoramic camera) with Harman Phoenix II. Lastly I shot with the Zero Image Dual Format 135 and the newest Harman film, Azure Switch 125.
Belle Isle, Detroit Michigan was my location choice this year. I was able to shoot most of the locations on my list with the exception of the James Scott Memorial Fountain which is under reconstruction.
There are a few decent images that please me and some that serve as experience. My submission this year is of the converatroy made with infrared film.
Like much of photography; pinhole forces one to slow down, decompress, and appreciate being in the moment.
